Two new photos that I really don’t like, but these dishes are fantastic if cooked correctly and the pictures are taken properly. The pictures are terribly off. I got so caught up in all the functions in the “M” mode ( manual mode) that I actually have no idea what I am doing. This will get better. Since purchasing my camera, the Canon Rebel EOS XSI, I have taken one class and really thought I new what I was doing and as you can see I need work. So what to do! I guess more classes are in order. I don’t need a photographer and a food stylist. I want to learn to take great food pictures on my own. There is a plethora of information out here and I know it is hard work, takes dedication and passion, but I am willing to devote a lot of my free time to learning more about food photography. I work very hard as a chef in a well established restaurant and there is nothing I enjoy more than taking pictures of fantastic dishes we prepare. Taking pictures of food really makes me step back and look at the dishes more closely. Now I can look at a plate and ask myself, if I was looking through a camera how would this look? I really wanted these pictures to turn out better and they did not! So I am going to take you through my steps to better pictures. I need classes and I told ( asked) my wife if classes were in order and she said yes Tom I think you need them.
So first I went out an purchased Adobe Photoshop and downloaded the program on my computer. After a couple of weeks I still had no idea what I was doing. Last week I was sitting outside talking to my wife about my blog and the idea of taking classes for Photoshop came up. We talked for a little bit and we agreed I should take a class. Irononocaly the very next day I received a brochure in the mail for a Photoshop class held at Gwinnett Technical Institute for Continue Education. The school is only 10 minutes down the road and I could not wait to open and look at the schedule of classes. The class is a an all day event and know the class will be well worth it. That day I took some extra money out of the savings account and signed up for the class. I promise you the pictures will get better. The class is on July 14th so don’t miss the next post. Next chapter, a six week photography course and better pictures.
